Having PhD in international relations and formerly serving as deputy foreign minister for Persian Gulf affairs, caretaker of Iranian embassy in Bahrain, governor-general of Ilam and Fars provinces and international advisor to the interior minister, 59-year-old Ahmadi was named as Iran's new ambassodar to Turkmenistan following the order by Foreign Ministry and approval of President Hassan Rouhani.
Ahmadi will replace the country's former envoy to the Central Asian country Hashemi Golpayegani.
Prior to his departing to the country of his mission, Ahmadi met with President Hassan Rouhani.
During the meeting, Rouhani, while expressing hope for his success in his mission, underlined the need for efforts in line with the development of Iran's ties with Turkmenistan, especially in economic, political and cultural fields.
